I am m a Business owner and mom of 2. I have a daughter and son and have been married to my husband Taylor for 13 years and counting. I first started Crossfit in 2016 but after a back injury during a workout, I had to walk away completely and continued my fitness journey training at the gym 6xs a week. Lifting Heavy and Working out for me is my “zen” ! I’m also a goal setter and a silent competitor so I found myself craving MORE. I needed a better atmosphere, motivation and that push out of your comfort zone I had with Crossfit in the past which brought me to BLCF. The atmosphere at BLCF is like no other! The journey to coaching today goes to all the current coaches as well as the members. It was the little things ..I look forward to helping and celebrating others achieving their goals whether it’s physical, mentally or emotional because you never know who you’re inspiring.

Creative Genius/Coach
Nicole is a mom to two rambunctious boys, Jackson & Mason, and a giant, goofy Great Dane named Rufus. By day she is a Special Education teacher and Case Manager at the local high school, but in her free time she likes to go on outdoor adventures, read all the books, and moonlight as a CrossFit coach. Nicole started her CrossFit journey back in 2013 after a friend convinced her to “drink the Kool-Aid”. As a former high school and college athlete, she missed the camaraderie and competition from playing sports that you just can’t find in a “regular” gym – however, after one day of doing CrossFit, she was hooked.
Nicole enjoys coaching because of the strong relationships that are formed within the CrossFit community and she genuinely loves to see members break their limits and achieve their goals. Nicole also loves to see kids get excited about having a healthy lifestyle, so she is especially excited to get to be working with our littlest warriors at BLCF.

Martin lives in Bridgeland with his wife and their 5 children. His regular 9-5 is working as a designer in the Oil and Gas Industry. Sports and fitness have always been a part of Martin’s life; beginning with youth sports ultimately continuing with football and track through High School. Guided by his father’s love for Bodybuilding, he grew up in the gym working out with him. Martin’s athleticism contributed to his success in the Marines where he served as a Rescue Swimmer and as a Marine Raider. He was first introduced to CrossFit back in 2015 by one of his Marine Brothers. To Martin; CrossFit was exactly what he wanted and needed, the structure, camaraderie, competition and the positive effect it has had on his mental health. He quickly earned his CF L1 and started coaching. Since then, he has earned his PN L1 in nutrition coaching and a certificate to coach Powerlifting, along with other fitness certificates and continuing education. His love for coaching comes from watching his athletes and his children (all 5 do CrossFit) achieve things they never thought they could. Martin’s favorite movements are the Snatch, Clean and Jerk, all Squats and Handstand Push-Ups. His least favorite is running. In his spare time Martin loves to hunt and fish.

Q. What’s your day job?
A statistics professor at the University of Houston
Q. Who’s your family?
Wife (Beth, married 22 years); older son Chris (age 19, a sophomore at Auburn University); younger son Matthew (age 15, a sophomore at Cypress Woods HS); dog Maddie (age 12)
Q. How long have you done CrossFit?
My first on-ramp class was August 5, 2013.
Q. Why do you coach CrossFit?
Sarcastic answer: to pay for shoes and race entry fees. Serious answer: because it’s often the best part of my day. It gets me away from my desk, and I look forward to interacting with my athletes (even at 5 AM) and the other coaches.
Q. What motivates you the most?
Struggle. I’m a “growth mindset” person both at work and at play. I like to identify a weakness, work on it until it’s a strength, and then move on to the next weakness.
Q. What is your favorite quote?
Here are three: “Adversity has the effect of drawing out strength and qualities of a man that would have lain dormant in its absence” (Herodotus). “Adversity is the state in which man most easily becomes acquainted with himself, being especially free of admirers then” (John Wooden). “Those who understand others are clever; those who understand themselves are wise. Those who control others are strong; those who control themselves are mighty” (Lao Tzu).
Q. What is your favorite workout?
The hero WOD “DVB” combines three of my favorite things: running, wall-balls, and rope climbs.
